Pebble beach
The river Avonmore and a small stream meanders through the site and there is a gravel beach for everyone to enjoy. During the evenings and early summer mornings, wild brown trout can be seen feeding on the surface and one could be lucky to witness a herd of wild deer in the woods or crossing the river. Other animals you might also see are pine martens, usually making their way along the water's edge.
In the Forest
The experience our guests take away with them is one of adventure, re-connection with nature, new skills and above all else, a feeling of well being and fulfilment. We like to add an educational aspect to everything we do on site and our Natural Living Skills programmes is a great foundation for those who would like to further their knowledge by doing our accredited courses - Level 2 and Advanced Level 3 Bush-craft Awards.
Around the fire
There is something special about sitting around a fire with those close to you. The dancing flames, crackling and hissing noise from burning wood brings everyone together especially if there is the added aroma of food cooked over hot embers. In the evenings, it is the place to be, toasting marshmallows or simply enjoying the warmth and glow of the fire.
Cooking over the Fire
One of the things we love to do in the forest, is to cook over the open fire. With the sounds of the rustling leaves, the flow of the river and birds singing in the background, food always seems to taste so much better. By combining creativity, fresh locally sourced ingredients, an open fire and a whole load of passion, this enables us to offer a unique food experience. A choice of catering options are available to be booked for your stay. We also offer bespoke menus for feasts in the woods suitable for larger groups or private events. Using our roasting boxes, smokers, steamers and Asado cross we cook large cuts of meat the South American way. Food is normally served 'Street Food' style using biodegradable cutlery and packaging. Every Sunday from June we will hold a BBQ Picnic in the Woods. A perfect day out with the family!
